In the role of Highway EIT/Designer, you'll count on you to:
  1. Work on a team with other project engineers on the design of urban and rural roadway projects
  2. Take responsibility for alignment and profile, geometrics, drainage, development of plans, and construction estimates
  3. Aid with the creation and submission of technical reports, specifications, and calculations
  4. Communicate and coordinate with utility companies and the project team specifically to the design process and schedule and per standard client practices and requirements
  5. Develop and maintain accurate records of utility coordination efforts and the delivery and receipt of documentation, including routine updates for the client and project team
  6. Develop and coordinate utility agreements and memoranda of agreements between utility companies and the client as applicable to the project design
  7. Coordinate with utility companies to obtain, review, and maintain utility-specific documentation (e.g., prior rights, as-builts, encroachment permits, betterments, no-cost letters, standards, and specifications)
  8. Review project design plans for utility conflicts and evaluate feasible alternatives for mitigation
  9. Prepare and update utility reports and applicable data specific to proposed project design
  10. Prepare specifications and contract documents
  11. Participate in project coordination meetings
  12. Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate
  • Candidates without their EIT will be placed into a Design Coordinator job code and are expected to obtain their EIT for career progression
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, experience with Microstation and/or Open Roads
  • Strong communication skills
  • Preference given to local candidates

  • Proficient with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD, familiarity and demonstrated experience with highway and roads engineering software such as Bentley ConceptStation, Open Roads Designer, and Autodesk Infraworks and Civil3d
