Job summary

State of Missouri's MoDOT is seeking a highway designer to determine design features and prepare detailed construction plans for highway projects, from concept to final plans, under moderate supervision.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from ABET-accredited college or university.
• Willingness to travel statewide may be required.
• Ability to perform calculations and prepare construction plans.

Responsibilities

• Design projects, including bridge replacements and resurfacing; prepare reconnaissance and reports.
• Determine highway design features and use CAD for computations and plan preparation.
• Assist in developing and reviewing detailed plans for complex projects such as interchanges or major bridges.
• Compute quantities and costs for projects from preliminary to final stages.
• Plot land and property lines with survey notes; tie right of way points to centerlines.
