Job summary

Metric Geo is seeking a Highway/Roadway Design Engineer in the Dover/New Castle, DE area with a hybrid work arrangement. You will contribute to highway design, plan production, and construction documentation, using ORD and MicroStation to meet DOT standards.

The role emphasizes technical design, not project management, and requires collaboration with senior engineers to advance multiple roadway projects. A strong backlog in the region supports immediate design work and professional growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Experience in highway, roadway, or transportation design.
• Strong working knowledge of ORD and/or MicroStation.
• Understanding of roadway design standards and plan preparation.
• Experience on state DOT transportation projects preferred.
• EIT certification.
• Able to work effectively as part of a design team and manage multiple assignments.

Responsibilities

• Highway and roadway design and plan production.
• Developing construction plans and engineering documents.
• Working in OpenRoads Designer and MicroStation.
• Applying relevant DOT design criteria, standards, and specifications.
• Supporting quantities and construction cost estimates.
• Coordinating with project engineers and other disciplines.
• Working across multiple projects as workload requires.
• Supporting projects through design and preparation for construction.
