Job summary

Prudent Engineering, LLP is seeking an experienced Highway Design Project Engineer to support the planning and design of transportation infrastructure across New York State. You will lead highway design efforts, review plans, and ensure design deliverables meet client requirements, standards, schedules, and budgets.

Qualifications

• Direct experience on NYSDOT highway design projects.
• Familiarity with NYSDOT project-development procedures and CADD standards.
• Experience with Bentley ProjectWise or similar document-management platforms.
• Experience developing 3D roadway models and model-based design deliverables.
• Experience coordinating utility, drainage, traffic, environmental, and right-of-way considerations.
• Experience leading design tasks or small project teams and mentoring junior staff.

Responsibilities

• Perform highway and transportation design assignments from preliminary engineering through final design and construction support.
• Develop and review roadway plans, profiles, alignments, drainage, pavement, and traffic control elements.
• Prepare calculations, design reports, specifications, and contract documents.
• Apply NYSDOT design criteria and project guidelines.
• Use OpenRoads Designer and related Bentley applications to develop design models.
• Coordinate design activities with bridge, traffic, drainage, environmental, and other disciplines.
• Assist project managers with planning, staffing, schedules, budgets, and client coordination.
• Provide technical direction and mentoring to engineers, designers, and CADD staff.
• Review junior staff work for technical accuracy and compliance.
