Job summary

Prudent Engineering, LLP is seeking an experienced Highway Design Engineer to join our transportation design practice in New York. This role focuses on highway design, plan production, and project delivery for NYSDOT and other clients.

Candidates may have a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience, with three to five years in highway design. Proficiency with Bentley OpenRoads Designer, MicroStation, and allied software is expected; a PE license is not required,

Qualifications

• At least three to five years of highway design experience.
• Experience preparing or reviewing highway plans, quantities, estimates, or related documents.
• Knowledge of roadway design principles including alignments, profiles, cross sections, grading, and drainage.
• Familiarity with NYSDOT standards and project development practices.
• Proficiency with Bentley OpenRoads Designer and MicroStation.

Responsibilities

• Perform highway design in accordance with NYSDOT and standards.
• Develop alignments, profiles, cross sections, and roadway models.
• Prepare contract plans, details, quantities, and estimates.
• Design drainage systems including stormwater management and erosion control.
• Assist with work-zone traffic control design and markings.
• Contribute to design reports and project deliverables.
• Coordinate design activities with project stakeholders.
• Review plans for completeness and constructability.
• Support project managers with schedules and budgets.
• Participate in field investigations and construction support.
