Job summary

Kleinfelder is seeking Transportation Construction Inspectors for full-time roles based in Cape May, New Jersey. You will inspect highway construction materials, read plans, and document compliance with specifications to support infrastructure projects.

Candidates should have transportation construction experience, a high school diploma, and English fluency. Valid driver's license and ability to pass background checks are required for site access and field work.

Qualifications

• Experience in transportation construction including paving/asphalt, surveying, traffic signals, flagger/traffic control and road/bridge construction and maintenance.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Education/training in civil engineering, construction technology or related field preferred.
• Must read/write/speak English fluently.
• Attendance, punctuality and reliability are essential.
• Familiarity with PC-based computer systems and/or tablet systems.
• Frequent travel to project sites for tasks/meetings.
• Valid driver's license with own transportation.
• Ability to pass fingerprint/background check.
• Ability to work safely in harsh outdoor conditions at construction sites.
• Stand/walk on uneven surfaces; lift up to 40 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Inspect materials used by contractors on highway construction on-site and document compliance with specifications
• Inspect various phases of contractor work to ensure proper highway construction
• Read and interpret construction plans for structures, bridges and roadways with understanding of specs and references
• Perform tests for specification compliance
• Document pay quantities for monthly and final estimates
