Job summary

Hirebridge is seeking a Highway Construction Estimator to lead bid estimation for complex highway projects. You will review bid documents, create take-offs, quantify materials, and prepare accurate bid proposals for review by the Senior Project Manager.

The role is on-site at Goshen, CA, with travel to job sites ~10%. A minimum of 5 years in heavy construction estimating is required, along with strong budgeting and vendor negotiation skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years with a major General Contractor in heavy construction.

Job description

The Highway Construction Estimator position is responsible for the estimation of the entire project, including reviewing bid documents and specifications, creating take-offs, quantifying, and qualifying material quantities and prices for a precise and accurate bid proposal.

Location: On-site at Goshen, CA office

Salary: $85,000 DOE

Requirements:

• Review new projects posted for bidding
• Generate and develop bids, leads via electronic and printed sources
• Perform accurate take-off of blueprints to confirm quantities
• Job site inspections for estimates and bids when warranted
• Organize and prepare pre-bid packages: secure plans, specifications, addendums, etc.
• Review bid specifications/blueprints to prepare bid package requirements
• Attending bid openings and pre-construction meetings when warranted
• Maintain relations with all vendors, clients, engineers, architects, owners, etc.
• Communicate bid information to Senior Project Manager
• Obtains pricing for materials
• Obtains bids from subcontractors

Experience Required:

• 5+ years’ experience with a significant General Contractor employer in the heavy construction industry
• Applicants should have experience, in and an understanding of, the estimating process on medium to large size projects
• Experience with Public works projects involving prevailing wage work within city, county and state agencies
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, and project management software
• Proven track record of successfully delivering projects on time and within budget

Education Required:

• Vocational or apprenticeship training supplemented with 3-5 years of construction leadership experience, or equivalent
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or Construction Management or combination of experience and education

Physical Requirements:

• Work in both office and field settings, requiring adaptability to various conditions

Work Environment:

• Regular travel to and from job sites ~10% of the time
