Job summary

Blakehill is seeking an enthusiastic HLTA to provide PPA and management time cover across the school from Reception to Year 6. The fixed-term role runs January 2027 to July 2027, 30 hours per week, term-time only, at Band 8 SCP 17-22.

The successful candidate will have HLTA Level 4 or QTS, experience across EYFS–KS2, and the ability to lead whole-class learning, deliver teacher-planned lessons, manage behaviour, support SEND learners, and assess pupil progress.Visits welcomed.

Qualifications

• HLTA status or QTS required.
• Experience across primary age ranges including EYFS, KS1, KS2.
• Experience leading whole-class learning and implementing teacher-planned lessons.
• Strong behaviour management and positive behaviour strategies.
• Experience supporting children with SEND and differentiating tasks.
• Ability to plan and deliver lessons independently while maintaining curriculum integrity.
• Strong knowledge of the primary curriculum across EYFS KS1 KS2.
• Good knowledge of child development and early phonics.
• Excellent communication with pupils, staff and parents where required.

Responsibilities

• Cover PPA and management time across Reception to Year 6.
• Deliver lessons following teacher plans to ensure continuity during PPA/management cover.
• Assess pupil learning and provide feedback to class teachers.
• Work collaboratively with teaching staff and follow school policies.
• Ensure materials and resources are prepared for lessons and stay organized.

Fixed term position to cover secondment (January 2027-July 2027) in the first instance.

The Governing Body of this successful school are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and experienced HLTA to cover PPA (Planning, Preparation & Assessment) time and management release time from Reception to Year 6.

Vacancy Information

The successful applicant will:

• Have HLTA Status (HLTA Level 4 or equivalent) or QTS
• Have successful experience working across primary age ranges, including EYFS, KS1, and KS2.
• Have experience leading whole-class learning, not only supporting individuals or small groups.
• Have experience following and delivering teacher-planned lessons to ensure continuity during PPA/management cover.
• Have experience with behaviour management and promoting positive behaviour strategies.
• Have experience supporting children with SEND, including implementing differentiated tasks.
• Have the ability to plan and deliver lessons independently, ensuring learning objectives are met.
• Have a strong knowledge of the primary curriculum across EYFS, KS1, and KS2.
• Have the ability to adapt plans where necessary while maintaining curriculum integrity.
• Understanding of child development, early phonics (EYFS/KS1), and age-appropriate pedagogy.
• Ability to assess pupil learning and feed back to class teachers.
• Have excellent communication skills with pupils, teachers, and parents (where required).
• Ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff and follow school policies.
• Good organisational skills to ensure materials and resources are ready for lessons.
