Job summary

Overland Contracting Inc, a Black & Veatch company, seeks skilled personnel to plan, lay out, install, test and maintain high voltage substation wiring and control systems in generating stations and substations. You will work with skilled professionals across power and industrial markets, following plans and safety standards.

You will engage in safety programs, operate a range of equipment including cranes, and ensure zero injuries while delivering quality work that keeps communities running.

Qualifications

• At least 4 years working experience in a substation/industrial construction setting.
• Strong working knowledge of high voltage electrical and civil industry standards.
• Ability to read plans, one line diagrams and P&ID/loop diagrams.
• Must have all necessary tools and be able to work on live substations with safety precautions.

Responsibilities

• Operate hand and power tools to install and terminate conduits, cables and ducts.
• Install and test control and distribution equipment, switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels.
• Work with high and low voltage systems and ensure electrical safety of components.
• Follow pre-job plans, safety rules and procedures; participate in safety investigations.
• Provide on-the-job training and mentor helpers as needed.
