Salary Range: The full pay range for this role is $93,000 to $155,700 annually, with a target range of $110,000 to $130,000. Salary decisions are based on experience, credentials, and location.
Scope of Job: The High Voltage Specialist will oversee operation, maintenance, repair, and training related to BOP & HV electrical equipment for wind, solar, and battery storage projects. They will provide technical support on owned and third-party assets, ensuring safety, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
Required Training: New hires will attend a five-week mandatory training and certification course, with duration adjusted based on experience.
Responsibilities: The role includes instructing and training site personnel, supporting maintenance and troubleshooting across North America, ensuring compliance with electrical codes, reviewing reports, managing outages, guiding high voltage switching, developing safe work practices, coordinating NERC compliance, and supporting planning and budgeting.
Supervision of Others: The position involves oversight of contractors and support to site specialists.
Working Conditions: 40% office-based, 60% fieldwork. Must wear PPE on-site, with travel required. Accommodation and expenses are provided.
Fiscal Responsibilities: Work within budget constraints and follow policies.
Education/Experience: Minimum 6 years in high voltage systems or P.E. in Electrical Engineering. Formal apprenticeship or equivalent experience required.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities: Knowledge of HV best practices, electrical codes, diagnostic tools, and safety standards. Effective communication skills and computer proficiency are essential.
Physical Requirements: Ability to work at heights, in electrical environments, operate vehicles, and travel extensively. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work in PPE.
