Job summary

BCG Attorney Search seeks a Patent Agent in Dallas, TX, to draft patent applications and responses to USPTO, supporting attorneys in delivering efficient IP services.

The role entails explaining complex technical information to clients, coordinating with inventors, and staying current on patent prosecution trends. A CS/CE/EE background is preferred, with USPTO bar preferred and flexibility for overtime and travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering or electrical engineering preferred.
• Licensed to practice before the USPTO preferred.
• Strong investigative and problem resolution skills.
• Ability to communicate complex technical information effectively.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse individuals.
• Advanced oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to organize and prioritize tasks under time constraints.
• Knowledge of time management and project management strategies.
• Flexibility to work overtime and travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Prepare draft patent applications incorporating technical aspects of inventions.
• Draft responses to USPTO and foreign patent office communications.
• Explain scientific concepts to clients and provide reports to attorneys.
• Serve as liaison between inventors and the Patent & Trademark Office.
• Evaluate technological aspects and report on inventions.
• Advise attorneys on technologies and conduct investigations as needed.
• Draft, organize and summarize documents for filings.
• Conduct regulatory and factual patent research.
• Coordinate workflow with outside service providers.
• Identify and solve complex patent issues.
• Provide guidance to legal support staff.
• Stay updated on technology trends and patent prosecution issues.
