DLA Piper LLP seeks an associate to join its Corporate M&A group in San Francisco or Palo Alto. The ideal candidate has experience handling merger and acquisition transactions for private and public companies, with exposure to capital markets matters or related securities work.

Qualified candidates will have strong academic credentials, a JD from an accredited law school, and admission to practice in California.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school.
• Bar admission in California or eligibility.
• Ability to conduct thorough legal research and draft clear memos and contracts.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to support transaction preparation and strategy.
• Draft well-written, error-free legal documents including memos, contracts, and correspondence.
• Assist/manage complex transactions from inception to resolution including negotiations and closings.
• Build and maintain internal and external client relationships with professionalism.
• Collaborate with lawyers and business professionals to develop innovative transaction strategies.
• Attend client calls, meetings, and high-level legal activities as needed.
• Ensure compliance with legal standards and regulations, staying updated on law changes.
• Pursue ongoing training to enhance legal knowledge and leadership skills.
• Engage in firm citizenship, pro bono work, and community involvement.
