Job summary

TE Connectivity’s Tooling Teams build, modify, and maintain metalworking dies and fixtures. The Progressive High Speed Stamping Tool & Die Maker III performs precision work, troubleshoots die setups, and supports training of apprentices while collaborating with die engineering to improve quality, cost, and productivity.

The role emphasizes changing over dies, maintaining high-speed progressive dies, and fabricating new tools from blueprints and specs, on a 3rd shift with an 11% differential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; Associate Degree in Machining Technology preferred.
• Completion of a State-Approved Apprenticeship Program and Journeyman’s Card preferred.
• Minimum of 3–5 years in die repair, rebuilding, and conditioning of complex progressive dies.
• Experience with shop equipment and grinding tools to tight tolerances.
• Experience in heat-treating and operating E.D.M. plunge machines.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary technical contact for the team and provide training as needed.
• Perform die and module changeovers, preventive maintenance, and conditioning of dies.
• Sharpen and repair carbide punches and dies.
• Troubleshoot complex die setups and production issues.
• Replace worn tooling and maintain high-speed progressive dies.
• Construct, modify, and condition metal dies and tooling.
• Set up and operate lathes, milling machines, heat treat ovens, and grinders.
• Measure parts with micrometers, calipers, and comparators to meet inspections.
• Set up stamping presses per Q.I.P. requirements.
• Train apprentices and support the apprenticeship program.
• Monitor spare tooling and track usage spikes.
