Job summary

Bridgeport Public Schools – Harding High School seeks a Head Coach for Volleyball for the 2026-2027 school year. This stipend position develops game strategies, organizes practices, and mentors student athletes to excel in competition while maintaining eligibility and sportsmanship.

The coach collaborates with the athletic director to schedule facilities, leads meetings with players and parents, and upholds district policies and safety protocols throughout the season.

Qualifications

• CT SDE coaching certification or Connecticut Teaching Certificate.
• First Aid Certification.
• CPR Certification.
• Concussion Management Training.
• Experience as a coach at high school or college level preferred; may substitute roles.
• Three years' high school coaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Holds organizational meetings for team prospects and encourages participation.
• Assesses players' skills and assigns team positions.
• Develops regular practice schedules for individual and team development.
• Schedules facilities with the athletic director.
• Supervises and guides assistant coaches as needed.
• Coaches and instructs players on rules, equipment, and techniques.
• Monitors players' academics to ensure eligibility.
• Communicates with parents/guardians about performance.
• Represents the team to media and booster clubs.
