Loudoun County Public Schools is seeking a Transition Teacher of Special Education to support high school students’ postsecondary goals at Riverside High School in Leesburg, VA.

The role focuses on delivering transition services, coordinating worksite experiences, and providing job coaching and instruction on employment-related skills while collaborating with families, staff, and community partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• Five years of successful classroom teaching experience in special education (secondary) preferred.
• Virginia teaching license with endorsement in Special Education required or eligible.
• Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
• Ability to coordinate with schools, families, and community partners.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with leadership to deliver professional development on transition topics.
• Develops and coordinates worksite opportunities and job coaching for students.
• Supports students in gaining employment-related skills and classroom instruction.
• Monitors progress toward postsecondary goals and provides related activities.
• Delivers transition-focused instruction on resume writing, interviewing, and applications.
• Engages with students, staff, families, and community partners through presentations and meetings.
• Participates in IEP meetings and helps develop transition plans.
• Collects data for state reporting and analyzes workplace readiness.
• Coordinates transportation for field sites.
• May manage a caseload of transition students.
