Job summary

Loudoun County Public Schools seeks a Transition Teacher of Special Education to provide transition-focused services for eligible high school students in accordance with state and federal guidelines.

The role collaborates with school teams and local businesses to create work sites, supports job coaching, and helps students develop postsecondary goals through explicit instruction in resume writing, interviewing, and college or technical school search.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• Demonstrated successful teaching experience.
• Virginia teaching license with Special Education endorsement or eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with leadership to provide professional learning on transition topics.
• Works with businesses to establish work sites and provide job coaching when necessary.
• Assists students in obtaining employment-related skills and monitors progress toward postsecondary goals.
• Delivers direct instruction in transition classes on resume writing, interviewing, and college/technical school searches.
• Participates in IEP meetings and collaborates with school staff and families.
