Washington High School in Washington, Missouri is seeking a Theatre Set Builder to support the district’s theatre program. The role focuses on Fall musical and Spring play set construction, painting, and safety.

You will supervise student crews and collaborate with the Theater Director to realize scenic designs while maintaining a positive learning environment. Ideal candidates will have Missouri teaching certification or eligibility and relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Missouri teaching certificate or eligibility preferred but not required.
• Experience preferred for this role.

Responsibilities

• Assist and instruct student crew members with designing, constructing, assembling, painting, and maintaining stage sets and scenic elements for high school productions.
• Work closely with the Theater Director to bring scenic designs to life while ensuring sets are functional, visually appealing, and safely constructed.
• Responsibilities include woodworking, basic construction, scenic painting, set installation and removal, repairs, and maintaining a clean and organized work area.
• Supervise and provide direction to student crew members, teaching construction techniques and safety procedures.
• Work with the Technical Director to request purchase orders for supplies and equipment.
• Supervise students during construction, rehearsals, and performances as related to this position.
• Regular attendance is necessary to perform the functions of this position.
• Perform other related duties as assigned or required for District operations.
