Job Description
The High School Teacher is responsible for delivering subject-specific instruction to students in grades 9–12, preparing them for academic success, graduation, and post-secondary opportunities. This role requires the ability to foster a positive learning environment, maintain strong classroom management, and build supportive relationships that motivate students to achieve both academic and personal goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan, develop, and deliver engaging lessons aligned with state standards and curriculum frameworks in the assigned subject area (e.g., Math, English, Science, History, etc.).
Use a variety of instructional strategies to meet the diverse academic, cultural, and social-emotional needs of high school students.
Design and administer assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
Establish a respectful, inclusive classroom culture that promotes high expectations and student accountability.
Integrate technology and digital tools to enhance instruction and student engagement.
Provide academic support, tutoring, or enrichment opportunities for students who need additional help or acceleration.
Maintain communication with parents, counselors, and school staff to support student learning and behavior.
Participate in staff meetings, professional development sessions, and school-wide events.
Maintain accurate and timely records for attendance, grades, and student performance.
Support students in career and college readiness planning when appropriate.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Education or subject-specific field (e.g., Biology, Mathematics, English).
Valid state teaching certificate or license for secondary education in the assigned subject area.
Strong classroom management skills and understanding of adolescent development.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Education or content area.
Experience teaching in diverse or urban school settings.
Familiarity with learning management systems and instructional technology (e.g., Google Classroom, Canvas, etc.).
Salary Range:
$47,000 – $75,000 annually, based on experience, location, and level of education.
