Qualifications

• Must be certified as a teacher (or substitute) in the State of WV or complete the National Federal Interscholastic Coaches Education Program as endorsed by the WVSSAC and the State Board of Education, and receive a coaching authorization issued by the WV Department of Education.
• Must also have or be willing to get current CPR/AED certification.
• Applicants must be fully credentialed professionals or substitutes or hold a valid WVDE coaching certification before participating in ANY WVSSAC sport coaching duties.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and supervise all aspects of the assigned athletic program, including practices, contests, conditioning activities, team meetings, and related team events.
• Promote student safety, welfare, and appropriate conduct while students are under the coach's supervision.
• Develop and maintain a positive team culture emphasizing sportsmanship, respect, discipline, teamwork, and school pride.
• Support the educational mission of the school by encouraging academic success and regular attendance among student-athletes.
• Comply with applicable policies, procedures, league rules, and state/federal laws governing student athletics.
• Communicate and work with administrators, athletic staff, students, parents/guardians, officials, and other coaches to support the program.
