Job summary

Fort Thomas Independent Schools seeks a Special Education Instructional Assistant to support high school students for the 2026-27 school year. Under supervision, you will assist certified staff, reinforce reading and math, and help with assessments to ensure instructional goals are met.

You will also supervise students during lunch and field trips, maintain records, and participate in IEP processes to maximize inclusion and overall student success.

Qualifications

• Assist with reading, language arts, mathematics, computer instruction and other skills.
• Work with students individually and in small groups to reinforce learning and implement programs.
• Assist professionals in administration and correction of tests and assignments.
• Help with classroom preparations and instructional materials for individual student needs.
• Maintain records documenting student learning and performance.
• Support classroom behavior management to keep a safe, orderly environment.

Responsibilities

• Guide students to reinforce core subjects and computer-assisted learning.
• Support small group instruction and one-to-one learning activities.
• Assist with administration and correction of classroom exercises and assessments.
• Prepare instructional materials and adapt strategies for each student.
• Document student progress and attendance as required.
• Supervise non-instructional times such as lunch, bus and playground duties.
• Accompany students on field trips to assist with supervision.
• Assist with parent communication to encourage involvement.
• Support inclusion of students with disabilities across activities.
