Job summary

Jalen Rose Leadership Academy in Detroit is seeking a full-time Special Education Teacher certified in Michigan to serve scholars with disabilities, implement IEPs, and provide evidence-based instruction and accommodations.

You will collaborate with general education teachers, communicate regularly with families, monitor progress, keep accurate records, and participate in school initiatives that advance JRLA’s mission of high achievement and college readiness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education.
• Valid Michigan teaching certification with Special Education endorsement.
• Experience with students with disabilities and IEPs.
• Knowledge of best practices in special education and disabilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in planning and assessing educational activities.
• Provide measurable data driven results on resume.
• Strong classroom management and ability to inspire high school scholars.
• Ability to work independently and uphold high ethical standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement lesson plans meeting standards and diverse learning styles.
• Develop assessments and evaluate student performance using varied methods.
• Develop and implement IEPs for students with special needs.
• Deliver direct instruction in various settings including one-on-one and small groups.
• Provide specialized instruction and support across academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs.
• Collaborate with general education teachers to ensure inclusion across the school.
• Monitor and adjust instruction based on student progress; maintain records.
• Stay updated on best practices in special education and participate in school activities.
