Job summary

Onward Education is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher (High School) to support students in Providence County, Rhode Island for the 2026/2027 school year. This full-time, in-person role offers collaboration with school teams and access to a broad network of placement options.

You will provide targeted instruction, use adaptive strategies and tools, and monitor progress to help students thrive in inclusive or specialized classrooms.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting students in inclusive and/or specialized classroom settings.
• Ability to work collaboratively with school-based teams supporting student services.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialized instruction aligned to student learning and support needs.
• Support programs/classrooms designed for specific disability-related needs (e.g., autism support, behavior intervention, or life skills).
• Use instructional strategies appropriate to the student population served.
• Utilize classroom supports that may include sensory tools and/or adaptive technology when available.
• Support student growth by helping monitor progress and adjusting instruction within the specialized setting.
