Job summary

Wayland Public Schools is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teaching Assistant for Wayland High School in Massachusetts. This role supports academic, social, and emotional growth of high school students with special needs in both specialized and general education settings.

Responsibilities include aiding classroom teachers, facilitating access to adapted materials, and communicating with families about priorities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Experience with high school-aged students is preferred.
• Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in Wayland schools.
• Paraprofessional certification preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic support to students with special needs in both specialized and general education settings.
• Support students in general education classes (science, ELA, social studies, math).
• Review and organize students’ academic workload and adapt materials as needed.
• Assist with instructional responsibilities and supervise program activities.
• Communicate with families regarding academic priorities when appropriate.
• Participate in trainings to support students’ academic, physical, and behavioral needs.
