Job summary

KIPP Memphis Public Schools seeks a dedicated teacher to deliver high-quality, college-preparatory instruction for K-12 students. The role requires planning lessons aligned with the curriculum and supporting a culture of college readiness, character development, and community engagement.

Reporting to the Principal, the teacher will promote rigorous, data-driven instruction while fulfilling duties to support school operations, student life, and family communication within an urban charter context.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is required.
• Active Tennessee state licensure and certification – endorsement matching subject area & grade band.
• Commitment to working with educationally underserved students.
• Commitment to the design and development of the school.

Responsibilities

• Plan a program of study and unit/weekly/daily lessons that are aligned with the school’s curriculum and meet the needs of students.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and development.
• Employ varied instructional techniques and media aligned with best practices and content knowledge.
• Implement the KIPP Memphis curriculum and instructional goals and objectives.
• Utilize diagnostic assessments to identify the learning strengths and needs of every student for intervention or acceleration.
• Maintain safety in the classroom and school and keep required records.
• Asssist the administrative team in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct.
• Make provisions to be available to students and parents outside instructional hours.
• Maintain professional relationships with colleagues and engage in professional development.
• Sponsor student activities and tutor as requested.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
