Job summary

KIPP Memphis Collegiate Middle is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher (Functional Skills) to deliver high-quality, inclusive instruction and support for students with diverse needs. You will plan lessons, monitor progress, and collaborate with leadership and families to ensure academic and personal growth.

The role requires Tennessee Special Education licensure, a commitment to underserved students, and experience in urban or charter settings.

Qualifications

• Active Tennessee state licensure and certification - Special Education endorsement (REQUIRED)
• Commitment to working with educationally underserved students
• Experience teaching in an urban school and/or charter network
• Satisfactory criminal records check and work eligibility

Responsibilities

• Plan a program of study and unit/weekly/daily lessons meeting students' needs
• Provide programmed practice activities and repetitions as developed by curriculum or therapy
• Create a conducive, developmentally appropriate classroom environment
• Monitor students for safety and learning progress
• Utilize diagnostic assessment tools to identify learning strengths and needs
• Maintain records as required by policy and law
• Collaborate with administration to implement policies and school goals
• Be available to students/parents outside instructional hours as needed
• Participate in professional development and other duties as assigned
