Job summary

Liberty High School in North Liberty, IA, seeks a Special Education Paraprofessional (7 hours per day) to support students with Individual Education Plans in a K-12 setting. The role requires collaboration with district staff and flexibility to assist in personal care and behavioral support as needed.

The successful candidate will help prepare instructional materials, implement BIPs, and participate in crisis management training.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Para Certificate or Post-Secondary Education preferred.
• Experience in a K-12 education system is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing the student's Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and support in preparing and organizing instructional materials.
• Assist with and/or perform personal care and hygiene activities as necessitated by the student.
• Implement strategies and participate in training to prevent, minimize, and manage behavioral challenges with dignity and safety, including crisis response as needed.
• Support the use of alternate communication devices and ensure access across settings.
• Participate in verbal de-escalation and crisis management training provided by the district.
• Maintain student documentation, Medicaid logs, and progress monitoring as requested.
• Support in bus transitions and bus riding as needed, completing bus rider training.
