Job summary

Rowan-Salisbury Schools East Rowan High School in Salisbury, NC seeks an Assistant Softball Coach to support the athletic program and supervise middle school coaches under the athletic director and principal approval.

The role requires knowledge of athletic policies, staff coordination, and a commitment to student-athlete development, academics, and sportsmanship. Immediate start, full-time position, open until filled.

Qualifications

• Has the ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
• Has previous successful coaching experience in assigned sport (preferable).
• Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport and willingness to review new theories and methods.
• Must serve as a positive role model for student athletes through instruction and actions.

Responsibilities

• Has thorough knowledge of athletic policies and implements them with staff.
• Knows system, state and league regulations; interprets and enforces them for staff.
• Follows proper command chain; attends required meetings and communicates through proper channels.
• Establishes philosophy, skills and techniques to be taught by assistants; plans staff conferences and clinics.
• Trains staff, promotes professional growth and clinic attendance.
• Delegates duties, supervises implementation and reviews staff effectiveness.
• Maintains discipline and works to improve morale and cooperation.
• Performs other duties as assigned by athletic director/principal.
• Safeguards equipment, sites, and ensures proper use and maintenance.
• Advices head coach and recommends policy or procedural changes.
• Mentors athletes to develop character traits and guide academics.
