Job summary

Everett Public Schools in Everett, MA, is seeking a Softball: Freshman Coach to lead our freshman program under the Head Softball Coach and Director of Athletics. This stipend position emphasizes teaching fundamentals, player development, and sportsmanship within the high school athletics program.

Responsibilities include coaching skills, maintaining records, guiding student-athletes academically, ensuring safety, attending meetings, and supporting staff.

Qualifications

• Coaching experience in softball at high school or college.
• Knowledge of softball rules and how to instruct players.
• Ability to work with pupils, parents, colleagues and community.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• CPR certification.
• Completion of the MIAA Coaches Education Class preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coach athletes in skills for excellence in softball.
• Maintain records of team lists, injury reports, scores, stats and reports.
• Be available during the school year for guidance and counseling to team members.
• Determine athletes’ academic eligibility.
• Follow the MIAA Handbook and EHS Student Handbook.
• Ensure safety conditions of the playing facilities.
• Be present at all practices and contests, supervise facilities when needed.
• Enforce discipline and promote sportsmanship as directed by administration.
• Attend Athletic Department and EHS meetings related to the sport.
• Provide support to the school staff and communicate with resources.
• Directly supervise team members at home and away games.
• Assist in distributing and collecting uniforms and equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned by head coach or athletic director.
