Job summary

Everett Public Schools is seeking a Freshman Girls Basketball Coach to lead and mentor young athletes, aligned with educational principles and departmental goals.

The role involves coordinating with the Head Basketball Coach and the Director of Athletics, maintaining records, guiding students on scholastic achievement, and ensuring safety and discipline throughout practices and contests.

Qualifications

• Desirable: Previous basketball coaching experience in high school, college, or both.
• Knowledge of basketball rules and ability to instruct players in all facets of the sport.
• Demonstrated ability to work well with students, parents, colleagues, and community members.

Responsibilities

• Coach individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sport.
• Maintain accurate records of team lists, injury reports, game scores, stats, incident reports, and physical examinations.
• Provide guidance and counseling to team members regarding scholastic achievement, college entrance, and citizenship.
• Determine athletes’ academic eligibility.
• Handle information contained in the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association Handbook and the EHS Student Handbook.
• Oversee safety conditions of the facilities during practices and contests.
• Be present at each practice session and all contests, supervising weight rooms, locker rooms, shower areas, and ensuring security before and after practices and contests.
• Enforce discipline and encourage sportsmanship, following standards set by the Principal and Athletic Department.
• Attend all Athletic Department and EHS meetings related to the sport, including MIAA, GBL, Coaches Associations, and Athletic Awards meetings, staying informed about rule changes and recommendations.
• Provide personal support to the entire EHS staff, including school principal, assistant principals, and teachers.
• Establish communication avenues with other adults to identify resources for enhancing EHS athletics.
• Supervise team members at home and away contests.
• Assist in distributing and collecting all uniforms and equipment, ensuring they are returned on time.
• Perform any other duties as the head coach or athletic director deems necessary.

Stipend Position – Salary based on contract (FY27)
