Job summary

Round Lake Area Schools District 116 is seeking an Assistant Coach-Softball at the high school level. You will help the Head Coach plan practices, mentor student-athletes, and uphold discipline and sportsmanship within IHSA guidelines.

The 180‑day position includes a stipend defined in Appendix B; current Illinois teacher status or IHSA/ASEP coaching certification eligibility is required or preferred.

Qualifications

• Current Illinois teacher or substitute certification or IHSA/ASEP coaching certification
• Varsity coaching experience preferred but not required

Responsibilities

• Assist Head Coach in planning, organizing, conducting practices per IHSA rules
• Assist in coaching student-athletes in skills for successful performance
• Oversee practice time, drills, and skill development activities
• Supervise and manage student-athlete behavior during practices and events
• Promote discipline, sportsmanship, and ethical conduct per district codes
• Maintain safe environment by monitoring facilities and equipment
• Assist with team administration and scheduling as needed
• Ensure eligibility and proper dress, equipment, and safety standards
