Role Description

This full-time, on-site High School Social Studies Teacher role is based in West Chicago, IL, and is responsible for delivering rigorous and engaging instruction in social studies courses, including world history and related disciplines. The teacher will plan and implement standards-aligned lessons, develop and adapt curriculum materials, and use a variety of instructional strategies to support diverse learners. Daily responsibilities include assessing student learning, providing timely feedback, maintaining accurate records, and supporting students’ critical thinking, civic understanding, and global awareness. The role also involves collaborating with colleagues, communicating with families and guardians, participating in professional development, and contributing to school-wide initiatives and activities.

Qualifications
  • Strong content knowledge and teaching experience in Social Studies and World History.
  • Demonstrated ability in Curriculum Development, including designing standards-based units and assessments.
  • Effective Communication skills for interacting with students, families, colleagues, and administrators.
  • Relevant Education background, such as a bachelor’s degree in education, social studies, history, or a related field.
  • Valid state teaching license or certification (or eligibility) in Social Studies at the high school level.
  • Ability to create inclusive, student-centered classrooms that support diverse learning needs.
  • Skill in using technology and digital tools to enhance instruction and student engagement.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional growth and collaboration within a school team.
