Job description

Kindle Farm School is seeking an inspired and engaging individual to teach Social Studies to high school students with diverse skills and interests. This position requires a strong background in Social Studies, supported by transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended. The school emphasizes strong relationships between students and instructors, so excellent people skills, the ability to set firm yet respectful boundaries, and diverse recreational interests are essential. The ideal candidate will also be capable of providing experiential education, connecting Reading, Writing, Speaking, Listening, and Social Thinking processes to authentic learning units. This role is unique, as many students participate in vocational components such as Agriculture, Carpentry, and Forestry, and have often responded negatively to traditional classroom settings. The school offers small classes with high staff-to-student ratios and natural incentives. Most students have Individualized Educational Plans developed in collaboration with their sending districts.

Responsibilities Include:

1. Implementing and adapting experiential curricula with the Social Studies team and co-teachers.
2. Providing behavioral support to students in collaboration with co-teachers.
3. Implementing relevant IEP goals.
4. Completing grades, quarterly reports, and curriculum logs.
5. Participating in and facilitating afternoon activities.
6. Supervising students during lunch, transitions, and breaks.
7. Engaging in behavioral, academic, and campus meetings and trainings.
