Kindle Farm School is seeking an inspired and engaging individual to teach Social Studies to high school students with diverse skills and interests. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in Social Studies, supported by transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended. We believe students learn best through strong relationships with their instructors, requiring excellent people skills, the ability to set respectful boundaries, and a variety of recreational interests.
The candidate should also be capable of providing experiential education, connecting Reading, Writing, Speaking, Listening, and Social Thinking processes to authentic learning units. This position is unique as many students participate in vocational components such as Agriculture, Carpentry, and Forestry, and often have had negative reactions to traditional classroom settings. Our small classes, high staff-to-student ratios, and natural incentives support their learning. Most students have Individualized Educational Plans developed with their sending districts.
