Job Summary
Bethany High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our faculty as a full-time Social Studies teacher. The ideal candidate will foster a love for history, geography, civics, and economics among students, encouraging critical thinking and active participation in social issues. This role requires a commitment to creating an engaging and inclusive learning environment that supports diverse student needs and promotes academic success.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive Social Studies curriculum that aligns with state standards and educational best practices.
- Create lesson plans that incorporate various teaching methods, including lectures, discussions, group work, and hands‑on activities.
- Assess and evaluate student progress through assignments, projects, and examinations, providing constructive feedback to support their growth.
- Foster a classroom environment that encourages open dialogue, respect for diverse perspectives, and critical thinking.
- Incorporate technology and multimedia resources to enhance learning experiences and engage students effectively.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary projects and initiatives that promote a holistic educational approach.
- Communicate regularly with students, parents, and guardians regarding academic performance and behavioral expectations.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational trends and best practices in Social Studies education.
- Contribute to school-wide initiatives, committees, and extracurricular activities that promote student engagement and community involvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Studies, History, or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification for secondary education in Social Studies.
- Certifications in Social Studies, including history, geography, civics, economics, psychology and sociology
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with students and foster positive relationships.
- Experience in classroom management and a commitment to creating a positive learning environment.
- Proficiency in using technology and educational software to enhance instruction.
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and a passion for teaching.
