Job summary

Portage School of Leaders seeks a High School Science Teacher for the 2026-2027 year to design and deliver engaging science instruction for grades 9–12, aligned with Indiana standards. You will foster inquiry, differentiate for diverse learners, and assess student mastery using formative and summative methods.

You will serve as a Wayfinder advisor to about 15 students, collaborate on interdisciplinary projects, and participate in IEP/504 meetings while maintaining a safe, well-equipped lab

Qualifications

  • Valid Indiana teaching license in Science (endorsements preferred).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Science Education or related field.
  • Strong content knowledge in assigned science discipline(s).
  • Effective classroom management and instructional skills.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learners (ELL & SPED).
  • Commitment to competency-based education and interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Experience with high school students in diverse learning environments.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver science instruction aligned with Indiana Academic Standards.
  • Create engaging, hands-on lessons emphasizing inquiry and critical thinking.
  • Use formative and summative assessments with multiple mastery paths.
  • Build an inclusive, relationship-rich learning environment.
  • Collaborate on interdisciplinary, project-based learning aligned to standards.
  • Integrate field experiences and community partnerships into learning.
  • Maintain accurate records and provide timely feedback via Headrush LMS.
  • Serve as a Wayfinder (Advisor) to about fifteen students.
  • Contribute to professional learning and school-wide improvement.
  • Participate in IEP/504 meetings and support diverse learners.
  • Manage classroom equipment and ensure a safe lab environment.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on project-based learning and leadership competencies.
  • Other duties as assigned by Administration.
