Job summary

Great Oaks Legacy Charter School in Newark, NJ seeks a High School Science Teacher for 9th–12th grade in 2026–2027. The role reports to School Directors with coaching and becomes part of a supportive instructional team.

Responsibilities include delivering rigorous science instruction, analyzing student data, and collaborating to revise curriculum based on assessments. Must hold NJ certification or be actively pursuing it; urban No Excuses experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from a competitive college; GPA meets NJ DOE requirements.
• mastery of content and ability to drive student growth.
• Experience in urban No Excuses setting strongly preferred.
• Extremely strong classroom management abilities.
• NJ certification (CE/CEAS/Provisional/Standard) or out-of-state cert.
• Curriculum development experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate solid knowledge of the content and engage students with rigorous instruction.
• Establish and uphold high expectations for learning and quality of work.
• Use diverse, engaging instructional strategies aligned to year-long plans.
• Plan lessons mapped to curriculum to address learning needs.
• Respond promptly to students’ learning needs and progress.
• Maintain a supportive classroom culture and communicate urgency.
