Responsibilities

• Lead/mentor/coach the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) team throughout the build/competition season (Jan-May) and off-season (Sept-Dec), guiding students in the design, fabrication, and testing of a competition robot.
• Recruit and manage student participation, ensuring a safe environment for team members across all grade levels.
• Coordinate team logistics, including practice schedules, competition travel, registration deadlines, and compliance with FIRST rules and deadlines.
• Supervise and support adult mentors and volunteers.
• Oversee team budget and fundraising efforts, including grant applications, sponsor relationships, and expense tracking in partnership with school administration or supporting foundations.
• Research and procure all materials necessary for the robot, field, and team functions.
• Serve as the primary liaison between the school, FIRST, parents/guardians, and school district regarding team activities and communications.
• Ensure adherence to safety protocols in the shop/build space, including proper use of tools, machinery, and materials.
• Represent the team at competitions, community events, and outreach activities, promoting the program to prospective students, sponsors, and the broader community.
• Maintain team records, including student rosters, attendance, and season documentation for continuity year over year.
