Job description

Powers Catholic is home to thousands of alumni who serve their communities as leaders, innovators, and servants to the Catholic faith and teachings of Jesus Christ.

Powers Catholic serves a diverse student population of more than 550 students in grades 9-12 from 65 different middle and elementary schools in the region. The school employs over 60 dedicated faculty, staff, and coaches.

The high school principal reports directly to the high school president and shares responsibility for implementing the school's mission. The principal is a spiritual leader who nurtures the faith development of the faculty by providing opportunities for spiritual growth and continuing education.

The principal is directly responsible for:

1. Integrating Catholic identity and the Bishop’s mission into all aspects of teaching and learning, ensuring they are reflected in all school activities and the community.
2. Implementing initiatives from the Diocesan Office of Catholic Schools effectively.
3. Developing and implementing a curriculum, instructional practices, and assessments aligned with the Catholic Intellectual Tradition and the Catholic Liberal Arts philosophy.
4. Recruiting, selecting, forming, guiding, and evaluating teachers committed to Catholic education, with deep subject knowledge, classroom management skills, curriculum development expertise, and collaborative spirit.
5. Supervising students with love, strength, kindness, and wisdom, fostering respectful and Christian relationships among students, faculty, staff, and parents.
6. Overseeing daily operations related to student affairs, discipline, attendance, athletics, and co-curricular activities, including personnel decisions.
7. Establishing a culture of service among students and teachers reflecting Catholic social teachings.
8. Consulting with the president on financial affairs and board relations, ensuring policy compliance and maintaining records.
9. Collaborating with pastors and principals of the Genesee County Catholic Schools.
10. Developing and maintaining relationships with external agencies and organizations to support the school's mission and operations.
