Qualifications

• Active 044CDE Physical Education Certification and 043 Health Certification as required by the Connecticut State Department of Education
• Bachelor's Degree in Education or in Physical Education
• Demonstrated ability to teach high school classes, urban setting experience preferred
• Experience working in a multi-cultural setting and collaborating in teams

Responsibilities

• Follow the scope and sequence of the instructional program as defined and approved by the Danbury Board of Education
• Set and reinforce clear expectations and routines
• Manage the classroom and student behavior to maintain a productive learning environment
• Prepare lesson plans with clear objectives and appropriate techniques for all learners
• Demonstrate strong content knowledge of Physical Education and Health
• Maintain accurate records as required
• Conduct parent/teacher conferences
• Assess student learning regularly and identify interventions as needed
• Communicate progress to parents through interim reports and conferences
• Design instruction to meet diverse student needs in individual and small-group settings
• Implement assessments to measure progress and refine curriculum and practices
• Maintain a positive, ethical school culture and ongoing parent communication
