Job Description

Required Certificates and Licenses: Michigan Teaching Certification Required. Must have a PE/Health certificate.

Residency Requirements: Must reside in Michigan.

The High School PE/Health Teacher is a highly qualified, state certified educator responsible for delivering specific course content in an online environment. Teachers provide instruction, support, and guidance, manage the learning process, and focus on students’ individual needs. Teachers monitor student progress through Stride K12’s learning management system. They actively work closely with students and parents/learning coaches to advance each student’s learning toward established goals. Teachers typically work from home but must travel occasionally throughout the year to various school functions, such as state testing or as otherwise required by the school.

Position Details

This position is for the 2025/2026 school year and offers a base salary around $47,000, plus the potential for a performance bonus.

Work Environment & Responsibilities

This is a full-time, virtual position requiring 40+ hours per week. Teachers must maintain a professional home office environment and typically work from 8-5 or 9-5, as defined by the school.

• Provide engaging synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences.
• Personalize learning for all students.
• Build positive rapport with families and communicate regularly with students and parents/learning coaches.
• Support students and parents with instructional issues and basic troubleshooting.
• Travel approximately once per month for professional development and testing.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree
• Active state teaching license
• Ability to pass a background check

Desired Qualifications

• Experience with the target age group and online platforms.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary is determined based on education, experience, and other factors, typically in the lower half of the salary range.
