Job summary

POLYTECH School District is seeking an experienced School Nurse for the 2026-27 school year at POLYTECH High School. The nurse will lead health services to students and staff, following Delaware state rules and district policies to maintain a healthy school climate.

Responsibilities include health assessments, emergencies, medications, and coordination of mandated screenings, with emphasis on collaboration with families, staff, and physicians.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing; Delaware RN license.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Three years supervised clinical experience, preferably with children and youth.
• Experience as a Delaware high school nurse preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides healthcare including emergency and first aid to students and staff.
• Develops, implements and evaluates health procedures and programs for student health and development.
• Provides disease information, prevention and surveillance.
• Offers health education, counseling, and assistance to students, staff and families.
• Coordinates mandated health screenings and assessments; follows up.
• Implements care plans for students with acute or chronic conditions and disabilities.
• Administers daily medications and treatments per regulations.
• Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings to address health needs affecting learning.
• Implements and evaluates health components of IEP/504 plans.
• Maintains medical records within professional and district guidelines; documents care activities.
