Job summary

Prep Academy Tutors is seeking a Math (Integrated Math II and III) and Chemistry tutor to work with students in the Encinitas and 4S Ranch areas. Support is typically one to two hours per week per student and will continue through the school year.

Core responsibilities include providing academic support based on state curriculum, providing supplemental assignments to promote understanding, tailoring instruction to each student, coaching study skills and organization, and communicating progress

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and CA teaching certificate or equivalent.
• Current student teacher pursuing a teaching certificate.
• Two or more years classroom teaching experience.
• Experience as lecturer or instructor at a U.S. university.
• Master’s/PhD student with teaching assistant experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic support to students based on expertise and knowledge of the state curriculum.
• Provide supplemental assignments to students to promote understanding.
• Tailor instruction to the individual needs of each student.
• Coach students on study skills and organization.
• Communicate with parents or guardians about student progress.

Requirements

A qualified applicant will have a bachelor’s degree and will also meet at least one of the following criteria:

• You hold a valid California State teaching certificate or the equivalent thereof
• You are a current student teacher pursuing a teaching certificate
• You have two or more years of experience as a private or charter school classroom teacher.
• You have experience as a lecturer/course instructor at an accredited U.S. University or College
• You are a Master\'s/PhD student with experience as a teaching assistant at an accredited U.S. University or College
