Job summary

Alexandria City Public Schools seeks a Licensed High School Mathematics Teacher to deliver district-approved curriculum while documenting student progress and outcomes. The role reports to the School Principal and operates on a 195-day, 10-month teacher calendar.

The candidate will adapt instruction, administer assessments, and communicate with families to support each student’s growth and goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field required.
• Virginia Department of Education teaching provisional, collegiate, or postgraduate license with endorsement in Mathematics (or eligible to obtain).
• Note: Mathematics - Middle School 6-8 endorsement is not appropriate for this position.

Responsibilities

• Adapts instructional materials to address individualized learning plans.
• Administers assessments to gauge student progress and learning needs.
• Communicates progress to parents/guardians and sets improvement goals.
• Collaborates with staff and community resources to improve student outcomes.
• Counsels students on performance, health, and personal development.
• Manages classroom safety and behavior to support learning.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Related Field

Master's Degree Preferred

Virginia Dept of Education License with Math endorsement
