Job Responsibilities

Reporting to the Dean, the Mathematics Teacher is responsible for the daily functions and management of mathematics within the DP/CP.

Description:

Reporting to the Dean, the Mathematics Teacher is responsible for the daily functions and management of mathematics within the DP/CP.

Missional Responsibilities:

  • Model the core values of CVWS in the classroom and school
  • Demonstrate and live CREATION Life in the classroom, guiding students as they develop in each principle
  • Develop students through the International Baccalaureate (IB) philosophy and mission daily
  • Integrate the UN SDGs into instruction

Teaching Responsibilities:

Teach IB DP Math courses (SL and HL) following the IB curriculum and philosophy as directed by the Dean of the CP, including but not limited to:

  • Serve as classroom teacher for DP/CP Programme including stewardship, worship, inquiry, lunch, and other activities.
  • Integrate CREATION Life, SEL tools, and biblical character-based education throughout daily instruction.
  • Integrate IB approaches to teaching through Agency, ATL, ATT, Learner Profile, Units of Inquiry, and Statements of Inquiry into daily instruction across disciplines.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that promote student understanding of complex mathematical concepts.
  • Assessment, based on IB standards, including Formative, Summative, and whole-child evaluations.
  • Provide differentiated instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to integrate interdisciplinary approaches in teaching.
  • Participate in professional development and contribute to the growth of the IB programme at the school.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and administration regarding student progress and curriculum development.
  • Conduct parent conferences each semester, including student-led conferences.
  • Participate in school activities such as chapels, events, conferences, and PD training.
  • Develop a healthy co-teacher environment with other teachers.
  • Track and monitor student progress through Toddle.
  • Actively participate in PLCs to create an interdisciplinary approach to instruction and integrate it into project-based learning.
  • Input, update, and reflect on Units of Inquiry and Learning Experiences in Toddle.
  • Complete progress reports each semester for review by the Program Lead one week before the release date.
  • Lead the maths teaching team for the DP/CP and MYP.

Develop Students in Mind, Body, and Spirit:

  • Integrate with CVWS's classroom management, instruction, and routines.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment that is safe and engaging.
  • Meet with the Dean of the CP to discuss each student's progress and needs, determine priorities, and suggest ways to promote learning and development.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in the educational field
  • Relevant teaching experience in High School (5+ years preferred)
  • Knowledge of or experience in IB DP (preferred)
  • Proven reliability in previous employment
  • Ability to adapt to new technology
  • Flexibility in the classroom and with colleagues

Physical requirements include: ability to hear, see, speak, lift up to 50 pounds, and use arms, hands, legs, and feet as needed, including during emergencies.
