ServingSchools seeks a dedicated Educational Technician III for Deer Isle-Stonington High School in Maine for the 2026-2027 school year. The role supports teachers with planning, assists students, maintains records, and helps create a student-centered learning environment on Deer Isle.

Certification as an Ed Tech and a Criminal History Record Check are required. Candidates with Ed Tech I or II may be considered if willing to train into Ed Tech III; professional development and a supportive

  • Ed Tech I or II may be considered if willing to train into Ed Tech III.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with the teacher in daily and long-range lesson and classroom activity planning.
  • Conducts independent learning activities with individual students or groups to reinforce and review learning.
  • Prepares materials and assists students in cooperation with the teacher, in-class or in small groups.
  • Evaluates student progress and achievement with the teacher.
  • Supervises children and maintains individual student records.
  • Attends meetings with students and parents outside regular instructional day when requested by the teacher.
  • Communicates student progress to parents with the help of the teacher.
  • Maintains up-to-date state authorization as an Educational Technician III.
  • Performs other duties as needed at the request of the teacher or principal.

Deer Isle - Stonington High School, part of SU 76 and CSD 13 is a small, vibrant, and welcoming high school serving approximately 100 students from 9th - 12th grades.

Job Responsibilities
  • Collaborates with the teacher in daily and long range lesson and classroom activity planning.
  • Conducts independent learning activities with individual students or groups of students that reinforce and review learning and introduce new learning as planned with the teacher.
  • Prepares materials and assists students in cooperation with the teacher, which may include assistance in the same room with the teacher or in small groups in a separate room.
  • Evaluates student progress and achievement in cooperation with the teacher.
  • Supervises children and helps to maintain individual records for children.
  • Makes provision for and participates in meetings with the students and parents outside the regular instructional day when requested by the teacher to do so under reasonable circumstances.
  • Communicates with parents on the progress of students assisted by the Educational Technician III.
  • Maintains individual records for each child.
  • Assists with the supervision of children.
  • Keeps up to date on changes and developments in education by attending conferences and workshops, reading educational journals, and discussing topics of mutual interest with others in the field.
  • Maintains appropriate state authorization as an Educational Technician III.
  • Performs other duties as needed that may be requested by the teacher or principal.
Requirements
  • Certification as an Ed Tech
  • Criminal History Record Check (CHRC)

(Candidates with certification as Ed Tech I or II may be considered if willing to train into Ed Tech III certification).

Benefits
  • Compensation for Ed Techs is between $19.50 and $29.60 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications
