Job summary

Brooke County Schools seeks an Assistant Principal for Brooke High School to provide instructional leadership and administrative support under the principal's direction.

The candidate will assist in curriculum development, master scheduling, and coordinating committees while promoting student achievement, school safety, and positive relationships with families and the community. WV Principal Certification required; familiarity with alternative education is a plus.

Qualifications

• A valid West Virginia Principal Certification PK-AD, as established by the West Virginia Department of Education.
• Any combination of training and experience which would lead to successful employment as an Assistant Principal.
• Willing to attend the West Virginia Principal's Academy or have attended the West Virginia Principal's Academy.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Principal in overall administration
• Assist in development of strategic plan in compliance with West Virginia Board of Education Policies
• Assist the Principal in developing curriculum and planning course of study for alternative education best practice
• Coordinate and implement the master teaching schedule and any special assignments that may be needed
• Assist school committees/organizations. This includes, but is not limited to, School Curriculum Team, Faculty Senate, Local School Improvement Council, Parent/Teacher Association
• Evaluation and counseling staff members regarding their individual and group performances
• Attend special events held to recognize student achievement and attend school sponsored activities, functions, and athletic events as directed by the Principal
• Supervise student traffic throughout the building and on the school grounds
• Assist in maintaining discipline throughout the student body and deal with special cases as necessary
• Supervise the reporting and monitoring of student attendance; work with the Attendance Director for investigative follow-up action
• Conduct safety inspections and safety fire drill activities
