Job summary

Arlington Independent School District is seeking a Classroom Assistant at a high school to provide instructional support under the supervision of a certified teacher. You will help in one-to-one or small group settings and assist with preparing, conducting, and managing classroom activities.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED; Texas educational aide certification is preferred, with ASL proficiency a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• American Sign Language proficiency preferred.
• Valid Texas educational aide certificate.
• Formal academic assessment, associate's degree, or two years of study.
• Ability to assist in reading, writing, and mathematics.
• Ability to work well with children.

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher in one-to-one or small group instruction.
• Maintain structured classroom routine.
• Perform program-related data-keeping tasks.
• Operate duplicating, laminating, and audio-visual equipment.
• Assist with behavior management and positive reinforcement.
• Assist with extracurricular activities and events.
• Help keep classroom orderly and attractive; decorate bulletin boards.
• Other duties as assigned by the teacher, lead teacher, or principal.
• Participate in staff development training programs.
• Attend faculty meetings and special events.
• Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
