Essential Duties And Responsibilities, Including, But Not Limited To

• Genuine liking of teenager and an understanding of their development
• Present lessons in a comprehensive and engaging manner using a variety of tools and methods to enable learning
• Provide individualized instruction to each student by promoting interactive learning
• Administer meaningful assessments that measure student comprehension
• Understand and support Grier’s school policies and procedures
• Willingness to follow directions and to think outside of the box
• Ability to adapt to teaching styles and materials
• Enthusiasm for teaching as a profession and for the material and skills being taught
• Six weekend duties, in addition to Opening Weekend, Parent’s Weekend, and Graduation
• Perform all other duties as required

Academic Classroom And Other Job Requirements

• Keep the channels of communication open between Learning Skills faculty, private tutor, and student support consultant
• Maintain a Canvas dashboard for each course taught and update it on a weekly basis.
• Update homework sheets on a weekly basis.
• Collaborate with other teachers, parents, and stakeholders and participate in regular meetings
• Create, plan, and execute educational in-class and outdoor activities and events that promote learning
• Maintain an inviting learning environment that meets the guidelines of the school
• Check your Grier email on a daily basis
• Attend specified department and/or faculty meetings
• Attend activities and events in the evenings and on the weekends as assigned

Education And/or Work Experience Requirements

• Degree in teaching or in a specialized subject
• Master’s degree preferred
• Thorough knowledge of teaching practices and legal educational guidelines
• Well-organized, creative, and energetic
• On-going professional development
