Job summary

Health Science Teacher position with HORRY COUNTY SCHOOLS requires professional certification/licensure in the health care field (candidates with BSN, MSN or RN preferred). Must be Eligible for Health Science Technology Certification (CATE) by the South Carolina State Department of Education.

Prior experience as a health educator and certification in CPR and First Aid is a plus. Position requires the planning, organization, and implementation of the appropriate instructional program to address

Qualifications

• Associates Degree or higher in related area required.
• Certification as required by the state of South Carolina in the field of assignment.
• A minimum of 2 years of hands-on work experience in one of the approved health care professions after professional certification required.
• Professional health care license required.
• Completion of an approved Athletic Training Education Program.
• Certification as a Certified Athletic Trainer by BOC (attach a valid/unexpired certificate).
• State of South Carolina Certification as an Athletic Trainer through DHEC.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences.
• Develop lesson plans.
• Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
• Prepare classroom for class activities.
• Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities.
• Identify and utilize different instructional resources and methods to support learning needs of students at varying levels of progress.
• Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
• Maintain accurate and complete records of student progress and development.
• Update records accurately and completely as required by laws and district policies.
• Prepare required reports on students and activities.
• Manage student behavior and maintain discipline by establishing classroom rules and procedures.
• Provide appropriate feedback on student work.
• Monitor and encourage individual student progress.
• Foster and maintain effective communication with parents and/or guardians.

Education

Associate's Degree or higher in related area

Certification as required by the state of South Carolina in the field of assignment

Two years of hands-on work experience in one of the approved health care professions after professional certification
