The Environmental Charter School is seeking a Health & Physical Education Teacher to guide high school students (9-12) in physical activity, fitness, and healthy lifestyles. A PA Health/PE PK-12 certification and a bachelor’s degree are required; experience in high school PE is preferred.

The ECS Health and Physical Education Teacher organizes games and challenges that promote physical activity among adolescents from ninth through twelfth grades. The ECS HPE Teacher develops motor skills, physical development, and proper exercise and eating habits for children. The ECS HPE teacher must adjust their curriculum to adapt to children with disabilities or different physical abilities. The ECS HPE teacher is responsible for the planning and orchestration of a Physical Fitness Day for students and runs additional activities to support student wellness and an active lifestyle. The ECS HPE teacher must have strong speaking and listening skills. Besides being knowledgeable about an activity, they need to be able to communicate and demonstrate it properly. The ECS HPE teacher must be able to observe all students and maintain discipline within the class. In addition to students, they interact with parents, other teachers, and school administrators. Candidates should be energetic and progressive-minded, with a willingness to work collaboratively with all educators at the campus.
Clearances current within one year of the hire date will be required and include Arrest & Conviction Disclosure, Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance (Act 151), Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Clearance (Act 114), and FBI Criminal Background Check. The Commonwealth of PA Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Release (Act 168) and Mandated Reporter Training are also required.
